The Texas Music & Arts Department is pleased to announce the return of our annual solo competition for 2019. Based on the USA Eastern Territory's 'Star Search' initiative, 'Lone Star Search' has been created to:
Inspire the growth of soloists.
Offer a goal to work toward becoming the best in their chosen field.
Present an opportunity to perform, and expand abilities that will help both corps and divisional level music programs.
Become true musicians whose sole purpose is to glorify God with their gifts.
Lone Star Search will be on April 26-27, 2019. The five categories will be Brass, Dance, Drama, Piano, Percussion, and Vocal.
Lone Star Search participants must be at least 7 years old, and an enrolled/prospective Junior or Senior Soldier for at least 3 months by this event on April 27, 2019. This year’s solo competition is for brass, dance, drama, piano, percussion, and vocal. The levels of participation will follow these age requirements:
Level One: Ages 7-10
Level Two: Ages 11-14
Level Three: Ages 15-18
Level Four: Ages 19-22
Dance, Drama, Piano*, Percussion, Vocal:
Level One: Ages 7-14
Level Two: Ages 15-22
Each contestant is required to play one solo which has already been assigned to their field and level. To find your solo navigate to your category at the menu above. This will bring you to a page with a list of all selected music and links to purchase or access solo resources.
Accompaniment will be provided for all brass, percussion, and vocal solos.
Audio tracks will be provided for all dance solos.
Piano, and Drama will not need accompaniment.

We’re excited to add the Piano category to highlight some of our talented young pianist! Corps pianists are desperately needed throughout our division and we hope to encourage their development by adding this category to the competition this year!
Competing in Multiple Categories - NEW FOR 2019!
Participants who wish to compete in two categories need to register for both categories when signing up. Every individual participant will be restricted to a maximum of two categories. No individual may register for three or more categories. Soloists may only perform in one category for the finals, if eligible.
