Singing Company Competition - April 27, 2013

We are excited to announce that the Texas Division will be hosting its second annual Singing Company Competition at Junior Councils, April 26-28,2013.  So much talent was on display during our first year, with 5 corps participating, and Houston International taking home the grand prize.  We know that this year will reach new heights, as there is a music focus at Commissioning, and the winning Singing Company will be invited to Atlanta, GA to compete against groups from the other 8 Divisions on May 31 - June 2, 2013.

Here are the details you'll need to know:

Age Requirements: All singers must be between the ages of 7-13 on June 1, 2013 (this will meet the requirements to compete at Commissioning)

Group Size Requirements: Each Singing Company must have at least four singers.

Music Selection: Each group will sing one required piece AND one own choice piece, chosen from the list below.  Both pieces must be performed from
memory.  Both pieces will be performed with live accompaniment, which we will provide if you are unable to do so.

Required PieceI'm A Soldier (Sally Broughton)

Own Choice Piece (each group must sing one of the following):
Give Me Jesus (arr. Burgmayer)
Insignificant To Incredible (Dalrymple)
Heartsong (Leager/Curnow)
Simply Trusting (Stites/Broughton)
Jesus Loves Me (Warner/Broughton)

*With All My Heart (Anderson) cannot be used for the TX Division Competition, as it was our test piece from last year.
