Our Texas Heritage - Celebrating 125 Years

At this year's family camp, the division celebrated 125 years of The Salvation Army in Texas by looking at the past, present, and future of our ministry in this great state. In conjunction with this theme, the Music & Arts Department created several videos featuring several former Divisional Commanders, soldiers and staff members who shared their experiences in three key areas. The impact of these past ministries is still being felt today.

Jim Anderson and the Music Department

As part of the celebration of The Salvation Army serving in Texas for 125 years, we take a look back at some highlights of the music department, and how Texas has impacted the world through this ministry. The video highlights the service of Bandmaster Jim Anderson in taking the program to the next level.

Ministry to Mexico

As part of the celebration of The Salvation Army serving in Texas for 125 years, we take a look back at a chapter in time when our division took an active role in supporting the growing Mexico Territory. Many soldiers and officers from the Texas Division have made a tremendous impact on The Salvation Army in Mexico, another way in which the Texas Division has impacted the world for Christ.

Office of Media Ministries

As part of the celebration of The Salvation Army serving in Texas for 125 years, we take a look back at a unique ministry of the Texas Division. The Office of Media Ministries operated for about 25 years, and was the premiere video production office of The Salvation Army world. Their ministry spanned the globe, serving not only the Texas Division, but Territorial, National and International Headquarters as well. Their cameras touched down on every continent, capturing the story and history of The Salvation Army, and promoting the gospel message.
